The Grand Pacific Hotel is on an historic journey as we transit into our Luxury & Lifestyle collection of becoming “InterContinental Grand Pacific Hotel Suva”, we have an opportunity within our Maintenance team for a Maintenance Technician.

As a Maintenance Technician, you will support the team which will include but not limited to the following:

Respond and attend to guest repair requests. Communicate with other colleagues to resolve maintenance issues.
Perform preventive maintenance on tools and kitchen and mechanical room equipment, including cleaning and lubrication. Visually inspect tools, equipment, or machines. Carry equipment (e.g., tools).
Perform preventive maintenance for refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment and keep servicing records up to date.
Identify, locate, and operate all shut-off valves for equipment and all utility shut-offs for buildings.
Test, troubleshoot and repair all types of electrical components / equipment including lamps, cosmetic items, extension cords, vacuum cleaners, replace electrical switches and outlets, and other guestroom items.
Ensure to use the Lockout/Tag out system before performing any maintenance work.
Study building plans and inspect structures to assess material and equipment needs, to establish the sequence of electrical distribution.
Keep records of assignments and produce detailed work reports.
Perform complex calculations and planning for special or very large jobs.
Display basic knowledge or ability to acquire knowledge in the following categories: air conditioning and refrigeration, mechanical, plumbing (e.g., plunge toilets and unclog drains), carpentry and finish skills and/or general building.
Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures; report any maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries; complete safety training and certifications; and properly store flammable materials.
Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards, anticipate and address guests’ service needs, assist individuals with disabilities, and thank guests with genuine appreciation. Adhere to quality expectations and standards.
Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others, support team to reach common goals, and listen and respond appropriately to the concerns of other employees. Speak with others using clear and professional language.

What we need from you

Some college or advanced vocational/technical training. Engineering Diploma or Certificate preferred in either Electrical or Refrigeration & Airconditioning.
At least 2-3 years of experience in general building maintenance in a full-service Hotel.
Works harmoniously and professionally with co-workers and supervisors.
Strong organizational and team working skills.
Disciplined attention to detail and accuracy.
Group 2 Driving license is an advantage.
A Refrigerant Handling license or Gas Servicing license or electrical wireman’s license would be an advantage but is not essential.
Flexibility – nights, weekends and holiday shifts are all part of the role.
A team player, proactive, honest, responsible, hardworking, and able to work under pressure & reliable character with a positive attitude.
