JOB DESCRIPTION & SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
CARPENTER

Kokomo Island Fiji is seeking highly skilled and motivated Carpenter to be based at Kokomo Private Island, Kadavu.

Responsibilities:

The duties and responsibilities of the Carpenter but are not limited to:

· Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to fully grasp requirements.

· Take measurements and calculate the size and amount of material needed.

· Cut, shape and smooth lumber and other material (e.g. fiberglass) according to measurements.

· Fitting items for future installation by carpenters.

· Build window frames, doors, staircases and frame buildings by using raw materials or per-constructed items

· Cutting and shaping wood.

· Repairing and maintaining doors, door frames, windows etc…

· Lay out flooring, roofing or drywall’s ensuring they are leveled and compatible.

· Carve and assemble furniture, cabinets, shelves and other items and install them where designated.

· Inspect places and conduct repairs or maintenance.

· Detect and report the need for major maintenance repairs.

· Ensuring all work is performed in accordance with the requirements of Health and Safety and other relevant legislation.

Qualification:

The successful applicant must possess the following attributes & skills:

· Proven experience as Carpenter

· Hands-on experience in working with carpentry materials

· Excellent understanding of carpentry techniques and methods of installation and construction

· Proficient in using electrical and manual equipment and measurement tools (powered saws, hammers, rulers etc.)

· Ability to read technical documents and drawings

· Willingness to follow safety guidelines at all times

· Has strong communication skills; both verbal and written

· Good understanding of basic math.

· First Aid & Fire Warden Certification is desirable.

· Valid Driving License would be advantage for the role.
