Primary Function/Purpose:

The Communications & Reporting Officer will support public communications and donor reporting for IFES’ Pacific Islands programs. This position will be under the supervision of the Country Director, and will be full-time, based in Suva, Fiji.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the IFES Fiji & Pacific Islands Country Director, the Communications & Reporting Officer’s responsibilities will include:

Provide communications-related support to programming on civic and voter education, awareness-raising, and other similar activities, including assisting in developing strategies and plans and designing materials and content.
Manage IFES’ social media initiatives and support partners’ social media efforts, where possible.
Provide information on the reach and impact of IFES’ social media and civic engagement activities.
Supervise and monitor audiovisual programming and productions for radio, television or online engagement.
Prepare periodic reports and presentations on IFES’ programs, including bi-weekly operational reports, political updates, event reports, one-pagers, infographics, and other periodic updates.
Create data visualization resources, including infographics, graphs, tables, matrices and others.
Provide English language editing and writing assistance across programming.
Provide communications guidance, expertise, and training to partners.
Ensure donor and IFES branding and marking rules are followed.
Other relevant duties as assigned by the Country Director.

The ability to remain highly organized while handling multiple tasks under tight deadlines
Ability to complete tasks with limited supervision
Must possess solid communication and presentation skills
Must value operating in a collaborative and cooperative environment
Ability to show initiative, good judgment, and resourcefulness
Conduct themself with integrity and function ethically
Ability to manage staff and work with senior management

 

 

Education and Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, political science, international development, or a related field required; master’s degree preferred.
Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience required.
Demonstrated professional experience and/or knowledge on issues of democracy, elections, governance and/or civil society in Fiji and/or other Pacific Islands is a plus.
Prior experience with international organizations strongly preferred.
Proficiency in Word, Power point, Outlook and Excel required; other ICT-related skills or experience a plus.
Language Skills: Fluency in written and spoken English is required.

Travel: Travel is required.
