•CLIMATE ACTION COORDINATOR
Job Summary:
The Climate Action Coordinator is responsible for driving the implementation of the organization’s climate action initiatives and strategies. This role involves coordinating cross-functional efforts, engaging stakeholders, and monitoring and reporting on the organization’s progress towards its climate goals.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Climate Action Planning and Implementation:
– Collaborate with the Sustainability Manager and other key stakeholders to develop and update the organization’s climate action plan, which outlines specific strategies, targets, and timelines for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and mitigating climate-related risks.
– Coordinate the implementation of climate action initiatives across different departments and functions, ensuring alignment with the organization’s overall sustainability objectives.
– Facilitate the integration of climate action considerations into the organization’s policies, processes, and decision-making frameworks.
– Monitor the progress of climate action initiatives and provide regular updates to the Sustainability Manager and other relevant stakeholders.
2. Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration:
– Engage with internal stakeholders, such as department heads, employees, and cross-functional teams, to raise awareness, gather feedback, and foster a culture of climate action within the organization.
– Collaborate with external stakeholders, including government agencies, industry associations, and community organizations, to align the organization’s climate action efforts with broader regional or national initiatives.
– Represent the organization in relevant climate-focused forums, conferences, and working groups, sharing best practices and learning from peers.
– Facilitate knowledge-sharing and capacity-building activities to support the development of climate action competencies within the organization.
3. Data Collection, Monitoring, and Reporting:
– Establish and maintain robust data collection and monitoring systems to track the organization’s greenhouse gas emissions, energy consumption, and other relevant climate-related metrics.
– Analyze the collected data and provide regular reports on the organization’s climate performance, highlighting progress, challenges, and areas for improvement.
– Collaborate with the Sustainability Manager and other teams to identify opportunities for further emission reductions, energy efficiency, and climate resilience.
– Prepare and submit climate-related disclosures, such as sustainability reports and CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project) submissions, to external stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
4. Climate Risk and Opportunity Assessment:
– Conduct risk assessments to identify and evaluate the organization’s exposure to climate-related risks, including physical, transitional, and regulatory risks.
– Develop strategies to mitigate and adapt to identified climate risks, incorporating considerations such as infrastructure resilience, operational continuity, and supply chain resilience.
– Assess the potential climate-related opportunities for the organization, such as new product/service offerings, cost savings, or market differentiation, and recommend ways to capitalize on these opportunities.
– Incorporate climate risk and opportunity assessments into the organization’s overall enterprise risk management framework.
5. Continuous Improvement and Innovation:
– Stay informed about the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in climate action and sustainability, and share this knowledge with the organization.
– Identify and evaluate new climate action initiatives, technologies, and strategies that could enhance the organization’s climate performance.
– Collaborate with cross-functional teams to pilot and implement innovative climate solutions, and document and share lessons learned.
– Contribute to the continuous improvement of the organization’s climate action plan and related policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, or a related field
– Minimum 3-5 years of experience in sustainability, climate change mitigation, or environmental management
– Strong understanding of climate science, greenhouse gas accounting, and climate policy frameworks
– Excellent project management and stakeholder engagement skills
– Proficient in data analysis, reporting, and presentation
– Knowledge of climate risk assessment methodologies and adaptation strategies
– Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across different teams and functions
– Experience in the implementation of climate action initiatives in an organizational setting is preferred
– Certification in sustainability or environmental management is an asset
