Job Summary:
The Panel Beater & Painter is responsible for the repair, restoration, and refinishing of damaged vehicle bodies and components. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, artistic skills, and attention to detail to return vehicles to their original condition or desired appearance.

Key Responsibilities:

– Assess vehicle damage and develop a repair plan, including the replacement of damaged parts and panels.
– Use specialized tools and techniques to straighten, reshape, and smooth metal body panels and components.
– Perform welding, cutting, and fabrication tasks to repair or replace damaged structural elements.
– Prepare vehicle surfaces for painting by sanding, grinding, and applying appropriate primers and fillers.
– Mix, match, and apply paint coatings to achieve a consistent color and finish, ensuring a seamless integration with the original paintwork.
– Perform minor mechanical repairs, such as adjusting doors, hoods, and trunks, to ensure proper fit and alignment.
– Inspect completed work to ensure a high-quality finish and adherence to industry standards.
– Maintain a clean and organized work area, with proper storage and maintenance of tools and equipment.
– Communicate with customers, supervisors, and other team members to provide updates and address any concerns.
– Comply with all safety regulations and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
– Participate in ongoing training to stay up-to-date with industry trends, techniques, and technological advancements.

Qualifications:

– High school diploma or equivalent; technical/vocational training in automotive body repair and painting preferred.
– Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a panel beater, automotive painter, or in a similar role.
– Proficient in the use of body repair tools, welding equipment, sanders, and other specialized automotive tools.
– Extensive knowledge of automotive body construction, repair methods, and painting techniques.
– Ability to mix and match paint colors to achieve a precise color match.
– Strong attention to detail and a keen eye for aesthetics to ensure a high-quality finish.
– Effective problem-solving and critical thinking skills to address challenging repair scenarios.
– Good communication skills to interact with customers and collaborate with team members.
– Valid driver’s license and the ability to operate light-duty vehicles.
– Certifications in automotive body repair, painting, or refinishing are highly desirable.
