Formscaff (Fiji) Pte Ltd is seeking individuals to fill in the following position:

•Carpenters & Tile Layers

Job Summary:

The Carpenter & Tile Layer is responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of various wood and tile-based building materials and structures. This role requires a diverse set of skills, including carpentry, tiling, and the ability to read and interpret construction plans.

Key Responsibilities:
Carpentry:

– Read and interpret construction blueprints, sketches, and specifications to determine project requirements.
– Measure, cut, and install structural and finish components, such as framing, walls, floors, and roofs.
– Construct, assemble, and install cabinets, shelves, doors, and other wood-based fixtures and furniture.
– Perform repairs and modifications to existing wood-based structures and components.
– Operate power tools and equipment required for carpentry tasks, such as saws, drills, and sanders.
– Ensure work meets industry standards and building codes.

Tile Installation:

– Prepare surfaces for tile installation, including cleaning, leveling, and applying appropriate adhesives.
– Measure, cut, and install ceramic, porcelain, natural stone, or other types of tiles on floors, walls, and countertops.
– Grout and seal tile installations to protect against moisture and ensure a seamless finish.
– Perform repairs and replacements on existing tile work as needed.
– Use tile cutting tools, trowels, and other specialized equipment safely and efficiently.
– Ensure tile installations are level, plumb, and aesthetically pleasing.

General Responsibilities:

– Collaborate with project managers, subcontractors, and team members to coordinate work activities.
– Maintain a clean and organized work area, with proper storage and maintenance of tools and equipment.
– Adhere to all safety policies and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
– Participate in ongoing training to stay up-to-date with industry trends, techniques, and building code requirements.

Qualifications:

– High school diploma or equivalent; technical/vocational training in carpentry and/or tiling preferred.
– Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a carpenter, tile layer, or in a similar construction role.
– Proficient in the use of power tools, hand tools, and equipment common to the carpentry and tiling trades.
– Thorough understanding of construction methods, building materials, and industry standards.
– Ability to read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, and technical specifications.
– Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills to address on-site challenges.
– Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with colleagues and clients.
– Valid driver’s license and the ability to operate light-duty vehicles.
– Certifications in carpentry, tiling, or related construction trades are highly desirable.
