Job Title: COMPETITIONS & OPERATIONS MANAGER
Role Purpose:
This role is critical in ensuring the effective planning, delivery, governance, and operational management of rugby competitions and events in Fiji, in alignment with World Rugby and Oceania Rugby regulations and best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and deliver all FRFU-sanctioned competitions and tournaments.
- Develop and manage competition structures, schedules, and regulations in line with World Rugby and Oceania Rugby frameworks.
- Ensure competitions are conducted fairly, safely, and professionally.
- Coordinate match officials, technical personnel, and competition staff.
- Manage disciplinary processes, match reports, and competition compliance requirements.
- Oversee operational planning for matches, tournaments, and related events.
- Coordinate venue readiness, logistics, equipment, and facilities.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and risk management standards.
- Develop and implement operational policies and standard operating procedures.
- Support budgeting, procurement, and resource allocation for competitions and operations.
- Ensure adherence to FRFU policies, World Rugby Laws of the Game, and Oceania Rugby regulations.
- Prepare competition reports, operational reviews, and post-event evaluations.
- Maintain accurate competition data, documentation, and records.
- Support audits, reviews, and governance requirements.
- Liaise with clubs, provincial unions, schools, match officials, sponsors, venues, and key partners.
- Work closely with World Rugby, Oceania Rugby, and regional stakeholders as required.
- Lead, supervise, and support staff and volunteers involved in competitions and operations.
- Identify operational risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Review competition outcomes to drive improvement and development.
- Contribute to the strategic growth and sustainability of rugby in Fiji.
Requirements
- Tertiary qualification in Sports Management, Business, Operations Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Demonstrated experience in competition, sports event, or operations management.
- Strong understanding of rugby governance, competition structures, and compliance frameworks (World Rugby knowledge preferred).
- Experience working with multiple stakeholders, including clubs and governing bodies.
- Proven leadership and people management skills.
- Excellent organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making ability.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
- High level of professionalism and integrity.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and competition management systems.
- Role requires flexibility, including weekends and public holidays.
- On-site presence required during competitions and events.
- Travel within Fiji or Overseas will be required.
