The role is primarily responsible for the fabrication, installation, repair, and maintenance of mechanical systems and rotating equipment across the plant while ensuring plant reliability, and safe operations through precision machining, preventive maintenance, and timely response to mechanical breakdowns.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform precision fitting, machining, fabrication, and assembly of mechanical components for plant and mill operations
  • Conduct daily inspections of mechanical equipment, identify potential failures, and escalate risks promptly
  • Carry out preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance on rotating equipment including pumps, motors, bearings, shafts, dragline systems, and associated assemblies
  • Diagnose mechanical faults using vibration analysis, temperature checks, alignment assessments, and other condition monitoring techniques
  • Complete mechanical performance reviews and provide improvement recommendations
  • Maintain accurate job cards, maintenance logs, breakdown reports, and compliance documentation
  • Support cost efficiency through effective use of materials, reduced rework, and extended equipment life
  • Work collaboratively with Engineering, Production, Safety, and Operations teams to meet operational targets
  • Provide guidance and support to offsiders and junior staff when required
  • Uphold strict compliance with OHS requirements, safe work procedures, and isolation (LOTO) practices to ensure zero harm

Requirements

  • Trade Certificate in Fitting & Machining or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in industrial mechanical fitting and machining roles
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, rotating equipment, and machining processes
  • Proven ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
  • Experience in mechanical troubleshooting, vibration analysis, alignments, and rotating machinery
  • Experience in cement manufacturing or heavy industrial environments will be an [asset]
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team
  • Strong understanding of workplace safety, industrial standards, and compliance requirements.
