The Fiji Rugby Football Union (‘FRFU’) Is based In the Nation’s capital of Suva and administers the sport of Rugby Union In FIJI. The major responsibility of the FRFU is to administer, develop and nurture the game of rugby at all levels from Community to High Performance, for men and women, boys and girls.
The following opportunity exists within the Fiji Rugby Football Union, and we are seeking to recruit an appropriately qualified, highly experienced, knowledgeable and motivated leader for this senior position.

FIJIAN DRUA & FIJIANA SENIOR ASSISTANT COACH

Role Summary
The Fijian Drua and Fijiana Senior Assistant Coach is responsible for assisting the Head Coach with the identification, selection and coaching of the Fijian Drua and National Women’s XVs Senior Team. As part of the role, you will work in alignment with the Head Coach to deliver coaching to the Women’s XVs high performance program and be actively involved in the identification, development and support of high-potential Fijian players, across the performance pathway.
The successful candidate is expected to live in Fiji for the duration of their contact. While the role necessitates a lot of international travel, the base of operations for this role is in Fiji.
This is an opportunity to play a key role in the development and coaching of the Fijian Drua and Fijiana National XV’s In the lead up to and qualify for the Rugby World Cup In 2025 and work with some of the world’s best Rugby talent at an exciting time as Fiji Women’s Rugby continues to develop into a strong contender on the world stage.

Key Responsibilities
• Assist the Head Coach in the delivery, planning, scheduling, coaching and selection of the National senior squad/team. in consultation with the High-Performance Manger, Women’s (HPMW)
• Under the direction of the Head Coach, embed a clear game model / style of play that leverages the competitive advantage/s of Fijian players and the national team
• Provide information and feedback to establish a detailed player depth chart, implement holistically developed Individual Development Plans for each player during assembly periods and systematically monitor player progress – Includes all Fiji eligible targeted players in the Drua as well as other professional and semi-professional Southern and Northern hemisphere clubs and competitions
• Build effective relationships with key personnel in these clubs to influence and support the develop of these priority Fijian players
• Lead and role model high performance behaviors, a winning mindset and embed values and standards that unite and inspire the Fijiana and our Fijian people
• Represent Fiji Rugby at International forums and service / support our valued commercial sponsors and partners when required

Key Performance Indicators (KPIS)

1. Leadership and coaching:
• Effective leadership and coaching of the national team
• Clear game model and style of play with clear measures/metrics to track on-field progression over time in chosen technical area.
• Assist the Head Coach to plan and run training that are well structured and maximize the usage of time resources, that prepare the team to execute the game plan.
• Provide analysis of team and opposition performance by working with team analyst to provide video footage for Individuals and the team.
• Drive a high-performance culture through trust, collaboration, standards and discipline (on and off-field) Fijian Drua and Fijiana Senior Assistant Coach

2. Planning:
• Support the systematic approach to learning, reviews, pre-brief / debriefs with the right level of independence and scrutiny to drive continuous improvement
• Support and contribute to the player depth chart, selection process and performance monitoring framework

3. People:
• Ensure all players have Individual Performance and Development Plans and undertake regular review and individual meetings with players.
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with the players and team management both individually and as a group.

4. Pathways:
• Contribute to the development of priority high potential pathway players.
• Ensure a close and productive working relationship with local provinces and their respective coaches and staff

Qualifications:
1. Minimum World Rugby Level 2 Coaching qualification.

Experience:
2. Proven Coach (or minimum Senior Coach) experience at international and/or professional club rugby (Super Rugby, Premiership, FPC, etc.)
3. Proven performance and success developing teams and individual players, particularly in resource ‘constrained’ environments
4. Superior knowledge and expertise on the trends of the international game
5. International network and proven influencing skills to enhance HP rugby programs
6. Direct experience in pathway / age group program development to accelerate the skills and competencies of players, coaches and staff

Competencies:
7. Understanding of Fijian culture and requirements to maximize the performance of Fijian rugby players and teams
8. Quality planner, well organized and proven high level communication skills
9. Experience managing teams of people to deliver performance in a psychologically safe performance environment
10. Demonstrated learning capacity and ability to adapt and resolve complex programs in a timely manner
