The Grand Pacific Hotel is on an historic journey as we transit into our Luxury & Lifestyle collection of becoming “InterContinental Grand Pacific Hotel Suva”, we have an opportunity within our Maintenance team for a Carpenter/Painter.

As a Carpenter/Painter, you will support the team which will include but not limited to the following:

Respond and attend to guest repair requests. Communicate with other colleagues to resolve maintenance issues.
Complete maintenance work orders from all departments on a timely basis by following hotels standard operating procedures.
Perform day-to-day routine and preventative maintenance within the hotel rooms and public areas.
Ensure to maintain a daily logbook of work done during the shift.
Able to complete the daily checklist before handing over the shift.
Ensure give proper handover to the next shift and also take regular briefing of the shift staff.
Execute the preventative maintenance schedule and ensure all equipment and designated areas are maintained to the required standard.
Maintain all tools, equipment, and working areas in good condition.
Maintain the engineering working area and control desk in a good condition always.
Maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies as needed.
Painting as assigned by shift leader.
Maintain a level of broader knowledge which enables you to handle minor problems in all fields of the department.
Attend to all types of repair and paint work in the Hotel premises, including any new additions / extensions to the Hotel or any other properties maintained by the Hotel.
Prioritize work in line with guest requests and management.
Explore and incorporate environmentally friendly initiatives.
Efficient and effective use of recycling methods.
Perform any other job assigned by the management as and when required.

What we need from you

We are looking for a passionate, enthusiastic, and friendly individual who is willing to learn and build an extraordinary career within a global company. The ideal candidate will have:

Vocational Certificate or equivalent.
2-3 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Competent Oral and Written English Communication Skills.
Strong organizational skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Disciplined attention to detail and accuracy
Flexibility – nights, weekends and holiday shifts are all part of the role.
Group 2 Driving License is an advantage.
A team player, proactive, honest, responsible, hardworking, and able to work under pressure & reliable character with a positive attitude.
