•VOLUNTEER PROGRAM COORDINATOR
Job Summary:
The Volunteer Program Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and management of the organization’s volunteer program. This role involves recruiting, training, and supporting volunteers, as well as coordinating volunteer activities and events to maximize the impact of volunteer contributions.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Volunteer Recruitment and Onboarding:
– Develop and implement strategies to recruit and retain volunteers from diverse backgrounds, skills, and experiences.
– Maintain and update the volunteer database, including volunteer contact information, skills, and preferences.
– Coordinate the volunteer onboarding process, including application screening, background checks, and orientation.
– Ensure that all volunteers receive the necessary training, resources, and support to effectively carry out their assigned tasks.
2. Volunteer Engagement and Management:
– Collaborate with program managers and department heads to identify and define volunteer roles and responsibilities that align with the organization’s needs and the volunteers’ interests.
– Match volunteers with appropriate opportunities and tasks, considering their skills, availability, and preferences.
– Develop and implement volunteer recognition and appreciation programs to foster a positive and inclusive volunteer culture.
– Facilitate regular check-ins, feedback sessions, and performance evaluations with volunteers to continuously improve the volunteer experience.
– Address any volunteer-related issues or concerns in a timely and professional manner.
3. Volunteer Event and Activity Coordination:
– Plan and organize volunteer-related events, workshops, and activities that provide meaningful opportunities for volunteers to contribute their time and talents.
– Collaborate with other departments to integrate volunteer support into various initiatives, projects, and programs across the organization.
– Ensure that all volunteer activities comply with relevant policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
– Coordinate the logistics of volunteer events, including scheduling, communication, and resource allocation.
4. Volunteer Program Development and Evaluation:
– Continuously assess the effectiveness and impact of the volunteer program, and identify areas for improvement.
– Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of the volunteer program, such as volunteer retention rates, hours contributed, and program outcomes.
– Analyze volunteer data and feedback to inform the development and refinement of volunteer policies, procedures, and engagement strategies.
– Collaborate with the Community Engagement Manager to develop and implement a long-term strategic plan for the volunteer program, aligned with the organization’s overall goals and objectives.
5. Volunteer Communication and Outreach:
– Serve as the primary point of contact for volunteers, responding to inquiries and providing support as needed.
– Develop and maintain effective communication channels, such as a volunteer newsletter, social media platforms, and a dedicated volunteer portal, to keep volunteers informed and engaged.
– Represent the volunteer program at various community events, conferences, and networking opportunities to raise awareness and generate interest in volunteer opportunities.
– Collaborate with the marketing and communications team to promote volunteer opportunities and highlight the impact of volunteer contributions.
Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Volunteer Management, or a related field
– Minimum 3-5 years of experience in volunteer coordination or community engagement
– Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with volunteers, staff, and external stakeholders
– Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
– Demonstrated experience in volunteer recruitment, training, and retention strategies
– Proficient in database management, data analysis, and reporting
– Knowledge of volunteer management best practices, including volunteer engagement, recognition, and risk management
– Familiarity with volunteer management software or platforms is preferred
– Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
– Commitment to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and welcoming volunteer community
