Formscaff (Fiji) Pte Ltd is seeking individuals to fill in the following position:

•Welders

Job Summary:

Welders are skilled professionals responsible for joining metal components through the application of heat and filler materials. They play a crucial role in various industries, such as manufacturing, construction, and fabrication, by creating durable, high-quality welds that meet specific requirements and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

– Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and welding specifications to determine the appropriate welding processes, materials, and techniques.
– Set up and operate a variety of welding equipment, including MIG, TIG, stick, and flux-cored arc welding machines.
– Select the appropriate welding consumables, such as electrodes, filler metals, and shielding gases, based on the specific project requirements.
– Perform welding tasks on various metal types, including steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and other alloys, in different positions (flat, horizontal, vertical, overhead).
– Prepare and clean the workpieces, ensuring proper fit-up and joint preparation before welding.
– Perform visual inspections and basic non-destructive testing (NDT) on completed welds to ensure they meet quality and safety standards.
– Make necessary adjustments to the welding parameters, such as voltage, amperage, and travel speed, to optimize the welding process.
– Maintain a clean and organized work area, properly storing and maintaining welding equipment and tools.
– Comply with all relevant safety regulations and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) during welding operations.
– Participate in ongoing training and certifications to stay current with new welding techniques, materials, and industry standards.
– Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other team members to coordinate welding activities and address any issues that arise.

Qualifications:

– High school diploma or equivalent; technical/vocational training in welding preferred.
– Minimum 2-5 years of experience as a welder, with demonstrated proficiency in various welding processes and metal types.
– Strong working knowledge of welding theory, techniques, and best practices.
– Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and welding procedure specifications.
– Proficient in the use of welding equipment, such as MIG, TIG, and stick welding machines, as well as associated tools and accessories.
– Familiarity with non-destructive testing (NDT) methods, such as visual inspection, dye penetrant, and magnetic particle inspection.
– Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills to troubleshoot and resolve welding issues.
– Good hand-eye coordination, physical dexterity, and stamina to perform welding tasks for extended periods.
– Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet project deadlines and quality standards.
– Certifications in relevant welding processes (e.g., AWS, ASME, API) are highly desirable.
– Valid driver’s license and the ability to operate light-duty vehicles.
