JOB DESCRIPTION & SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
This position is responsible for leadership of nurses and technicians at the Pacific Eye Institute and effective clinical management practices, with a primary focus to support the training and continued professional development of eye care nurses. The role also ensures the delivery of safe and quality nursing care for patients at Eye Operation theatre and PEI outreach.

Join NowKey Responsibilities
· Lead and manage a high-performing team of nurses, technicians, and support staff at PEI/CWM Eye OT, Mobile Eye Clinic and Diabetes Eye Clinic.
· Work with Eye Nurse Team Leaders to ensure adherence to clinical policies, protocols, and guidelines.
· Coordinate training support and participate in student selection for Post Graduate Diploma in Eye Care Programme.
· Supervise clinical activities, including operating theatre operations and outreach programs.
· Report incidents, maintain records, and ensure compliance with organizational policies and health & safety standards.
· Develop and implement strategies to improve patient care and satisfaction.
· Coordinate with external partners and organizations to enhance training and service delivery.
· Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to staff.
· Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and accreditation standards.
· Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders
Minimum Requirement
· Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from a recognized institution
· Post Graduate Diploma in Nursing or higher qualification
· Post Graduate Diploma in Eye Care will be an added advantage but not compulsory
· Hold a valid annual practicing license and registration with the Fiji Nursing Council
· 10 years of experience in managerial positions in a nursing environment
· Demonstrated experience in managing a nursing unit
· Experience working in an Outpatient Department (OPD) and Operating Theatre (OT) clinic
Skills and Competencies
· Good knowledge of the Nursing Act (2011), Scope of Practice, FNC Code of Ethics and Conduct, Public Service Code of Conduct, Occupational Health and Safety Act, and relevant legislation
· Strong leadership and managerial skills
· Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
· Proficiency in healthcare management software and Microsoft Office Suite
· Ability to foster positive relationships and engage in a culturally sensitive manner with people of diverse backgrounds.
· A team player, with a collaborative approach
· A solution focused and service-oriented outlook.
· Ability to coordinate schedules, rosters, plan, and budget resources.
