• AUTO – ELECTRICIAN (QUALIFIED OR ASSISTANT)

An Auto Electrician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining the electrical and electronic systems in motor vehicles. This includes everything from basic wiring and lighting to more complex systems like engine management, infotainment, and safety features.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

– Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical and electronic issues in a wide range of motor vehicles
– Repair or replace faulty electrical components, such as batteries, alternators, starters, wiring harnesses, and control modules
– Perform scheduled maintenance on vehicle electrical and electronic systems
– Test and calibrate electrical and electronic systems to ensure proper operation
– Interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams to identify and locate issues
– Use a variety of diagnostic tools and equipment, including multimeters, oscilloscopes, and specialized software
– Provide customers with detailed information about identified issues and recommended repairs
– Maintain accurate records of all work performed, including parts used and labor hours
– Stay up-to-date with the latest automotive electrical and electronic technologies, tools, and repair techniques
– Adhere to all safety protocols and environmental regulations

Qualifications

– Qualified Auto Electrician:
– Completed a formal apprenticeship or vocational training program in automotive electrical systems
– Holds a valid trade certificate or license as an auto electrician
– Minimum 3-5 years of experience working as an auto electrician
– Auto Electrician Assistant:
– High school diploma or equivalent
– Some prior experience working in an automotive repair or maintenance setting
– Willingness to learn and obtain the necessary certifications

Skills and Knowledge

– Extensive knowledge of automotive electrical and electronic systems
– Proficient in the use of diagnostic tools and equipment
– Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
– Excellent attention to detail and mechanical aptitude
– Good communication skills to explain technical issues to customers
