Immediate vacancies for the following:

• UPHOLSTERER

Upholsterers are responsible for the repair, restoration, and custom fabrication of furniture and other textile-covered items. They select and cut fabrics, padding, and other materials, and use a variety of hand and power tools to assemble and install the upholstery.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

– Inspect furniture, vehicles, or other items to assess the condition and determine the necessary repairs or modifications
– Select appropriate fabrics, padding, springs, and other materials based on the customer’s preferences and the item’s intended use
– Measure and cut fabrics, padding, and other materials to fit the item being upholstered
– Disassemble furniture or other items, removing old upholstery, padding, and other components
– Install new springs, webbing, and padding, following specific patterns and techniques
– Sew, staple, or otherwise attach the new fabrics and materials to the item being upholstered
– Perform detailed finishing work, such as piping, tufting, and decorative trim
– Ensure the final product is of high quality and meets the customer’s specifications
– Advise customers on fabric selections, design options, and care of upholstered items
– Maintain a clean and organized work area, and ensure proper use and maintenance of tools and equipment
– Comply with all safety guidelines and environmental regulations

Qualifications

– High school diploma or equivalent
– Formal training or apprenticeship in upholstery, or several years of relevant experience
– Strong proficiency in the use of hand and power tools, sewing machines, and other upholstery equipment
– Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
– Knowledge of a wide range of fabrics, materials, and upholstery techniques
– Ability to read and interpret blueprints, patterns, and design specifications
– Good time management and customer service skills
– Physical dexterity and the ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects
