Summary of Key Accountabilities
- To profile OiP work in national, regional and global media and in wider communications to support
- Oxfam’s public engagement including fundraising and campaign goals
- To develop programme communication materials/tools.
- To coordinate OiP Programme communications and media activities i.e. content gathering (e.g. trips), for media, fundraising, marketing, campaigning and other forms of public engagement.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local, regional, and international media outlets.
- Organize press conferences, media briefings, and other media-related events.
- Ensure all content aligns with Oxfam’s messaging, branding, and advocacy goals.
- Manage Oxfam in the Pacific’s social media presence across multiple platforms.
- Provide timely and effective communication responses during emergencies and crises
- Develop and implement crisis communication strategies to manage and mitigate reputational risks.
Qualifications and Experience
The suitable candidate must have the following qualifications, skills and experience:
- Relevant qualification in media studies or journalism
- Digital marketing & communications experience
- Proven skills in Canva design
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English
- Exceptional multi-media and story-gathering skills, including filming and photographic skills
- Ability to use various social media platforms to support Oxfam’s campaigns and programmes
- Knowledge of how national, regional, and international media works in the Pacific region
- Computer literacy (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc)
- The ability to provide effective and empowering transfer of knowledge and skills on media and
- communications processes
- Ability to develop or customise stories for national and regional audiences
- Ability to develop creative ways to engage the public
- Producing communications products to tight deadlines
Desirable
- Fluency in Pacific Island Country vernacular an advantage
- Good knowledge and track record of using social media
- Good understanding of, and commitment to, gender equity (particularly around women’s rights)
- Understanding of climate change issues in the region
- Innovative and creative approach to problem solving.
