The Purchasing Manager should be highly motivated and detail-oriented .This is an Island based position to oversee our procurement activities. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing purchasing strategies, negotiating contracts/purchasing, and ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services. This role will directly report to the Financial Controller and will play a crucial role in maintaining the smooth operation of our island-based facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement effective purchasing strategies.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers.
  • Manage relationships with key suppliers and vendors.
  • Monitor and forecast upcoming levels of demand.
  • Ensure timely delivery of goods and services.
  • Maintain accurate records of purchases and pricing.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure procurement needs are met.
  • Stay updated on market trends and industry best practices.
  • Establish and maintain vendor contacts and relationships.
  • Conduct pricing analysis and cost comparisons.
  • Oversee the entry and management of purchase orders.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Resolve any issues or discrepancies with orders and deliveries.
  • Prepare and present reports on procurement activities and performance.
  • Order stock as per the order sheet and ensure it aligns with inventory requirements.
  • Ensure procurement activities do not exceed budgeted costs.
  • Monitor stock levels and reorder as necessary to avoid shortages.
  • Conduct stock entries in a timely manner.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Proven record of at least 3 years’ experience as a Purchasing Manager or in a similar role.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
