Manager Fleet Services

Fiji Airports (FA) is a fully owned Government Commercial Company (GCC) that was established in April 1999. It came into existence as a result of the re-organisation of the Civil Aviation Authority of Fiji (CAAF) into separate commercial and regulatory authorities under the Public Enterprise Act, 1996. It is responsible for the operation of 15 public airports in the Fiji Islands. These include two international airports: Nadi International Airport – Fiji’s main international gateway and Nausori Airport – Fiji’s domestic hub and 13 outer island airports.

Fiji Airports is seeking a qualified and experienced individual for the role of Manager Fleet Services.

The Manager Fleet Services will be responsible for managing the internal Motor Pool and ensuring that the FA’s fleet of Heavy and Light Vehicles is maintained, serviced and available all times. The Manager Fleet Services will be accountable for establishing, maintaining, and controlling efficient Fleet repair and maintenance programs. The incumbent is also required to assist in developing appropriate processes relative to the policies of the organization to deliver the services it is meant to provide.

The Manager Fleet Services will also be responsible for the provision of high-quality airport rescue firefighting (ARFF) vehicles in the Fiji and ensure FA maintains a high quality ARFF services meeting international Civil Aviation Organizations (ICAO) Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPS) and International Standards Organization (ISO) or other quality standards, essential to FA’s successful operation of airports.

The role will report to the General Manager Assets and Infrastructure and will be responsible for the following outcomes:


Summary of Accountabilities:

  • To lead the Fleet Management Services department in meeting its target service delivery according to organization strategic Business objectives.
  • Overall responsibility of the department operating the capital budget formulation, implementation, and control.
  • To develop and implement sound policies and programs, competitive strategies, and business innovative solutions for the department to be competitive and meeting it’s defined functional role and responsibility.
  • To develop and implement policies and standard operating procedures once preventive maintenance schedules/plans for maintenance and operation of Major Fire Tenders, Plant/Equipment & Heavy and Light vehicles operating at Airports Fiji Limited.
  • To oversee the timely conduct and completion of Fleet/equipment maintenance processes, development and competency of staff and proper monitoring and control system to meet the target facility availability and the organization benchmark.
  • Facilitate maintenance/repairs to all AFL owned and leased heavy and light vehicles and plants according to the relevant Transport policies.
  • To be responsible for the replacement and procurement of Company Fleet/equipment on time

Qualification and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering or in a related field with 8 years of experience in fleet management, vehicle maintenance or in a related field, with at least 3-5 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
  • A valid driving license category 1,2,6,7 & 8
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for working with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Extensive experience in Fleet Procurement / Management/Maintenance and mechanical repairs
  • Experience in developing and implementing policies and standard operating procedures for fleet management.
  • Sound knowledge of the contemporary aviation environment and demonstrated ability to formulate sound strategic plans and programs to effectively deliver corporate goals.
  • A Grade S Marine Engineering qualification with formal training on Detroit Diesel Allison engine is an added advantage.
  • Knowledge and experience in repair, management and maintenance of Aviation Fire Tenders/Vehicles and equipment will be an advantage.

Remuneration
An appropriate remuneration package will be negotiated with the successful candidate commensurate with qualifications and experience.
