HEAVY DIESEL MECHANIC

 Kokomo Private Island is a luxurious, all-inclusive resort located in the heart of Kadavu, Fiji. We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Heavy Diesel Mechanic who will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing and maintaining heavy diesel equipment and vehicle at the resort.  Duties and Responsibilities:

•   Team Supervision: Lead and manage a team of mechanics, providing guidance and support to ensure effective maintenance and servicing of all heavy diesel equipment and machinery.
•       Maintenance Oversight: Oversee routine inspections, diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance of diesel engines and related systems to ensure optimal performance and safety.
•       Technical Expertise: Utilize advanced technical knowledge to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues and implement effective solutions.
•       Cost Monitoring: Track and analyses departmental costs related to maintenance and repairs, identifying areas for improvement and efficiency.
•       Cost-Saving Implementation: Develop and implement cost-saving procedures and strategies to optimize resource use and reduce operational expenses.
•     Safety Compliance: Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and industry standards, promoting a safe working environment.
•     Inventory Management: Manage parts and supplies inventory, ensuring availability of necessary components for timely repairs and maintenance.
•     Training and Development: Provide training and mentorship to team members, fostering skill development and enhancing overall team performance.
•       Reporting: Prepare and present reports on maintenance activities, costs, and team performance to management.

Qualifications:

•       Trade diploma or equivalent; vocational training or an associate degree in diesel mechanics or a related field is preferred.
•       Minimum of 10-12 years of hands-on experience in heavy diesel mechanics, with a focus on maintenance and repair of heavy equipment.

• Proven experience as a Heavy Diesel Mechanic.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines and mechanical systems.
• Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical issues efficiently.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication skills.
• Relevant certifications or qualifications in diesel mechanics

•       First Aid & Fire Warden Certification is desirable.
•       Valid Driving License (Gr 2, 8 & 9) would be advantage for the role
