PAINTER/WATERBLASTER – Carpenters Fiji PTE Limited

Job Description & Skills/Qualifications Required

Industrial and Marine Engineering Pte Limited (IMEL), a division of Carpenters Group of Companies, has an exciting opening for dynamic individuals to join IMEL for the Painter/Waterblaster role based in Walu Bay, Suva.

Responsibilities:

• Check and inspect the affected areas of the vessel ships side.
• Waterblast and paint ship side, underwater section, bottom top, top side, the bulwarks and superstructure through the consultation
• Sand blast and paint the mill scaled flaked areas of the vessel of ship owner.
• Buff affected areas of the vessel.
• Perform all types of surface preparation on wood, plastic, ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
• Erect scaffoldings and planks to reach surfaces of work areas.
• Operate compressors, sandblasters, scissors lift, boom swing stage to height of 16 meters.

Requirements:

• 2-3 years of experience in similar role.
• Ability to work in confined spaces.
• Knowledge and understanding of workplace Health & Safety.
• Ability to work long and odd hours.
