ENVIRONMENT OFFICER- POSITION

Location: Tuvatu Gold Mine  Operation Site-  Fiji

Lion One Limited Fiji, a subsidiary of Lion One Metals is an emerging Canadian Gold producer headquartered in North Vancouver BC, with new operations established in late 2023 at its 100% owned Tuvatu Alkaline Gold mine project in Fiji. Lion One Ltd has its own Geochemical and Metallurgical Laboratory based in Waimalika Nadi.

We are currently looking for a full-time Environment Officer to work at the Tuvatu Gold Mine. The successful candidate will report to the Environment Manager and be responsible for carrying out environmental compliance work for the Tuvatu Gold Mine Operation.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Undertake environmental sampling such as water, macroinvertebrates, fish tissue groundwater test and emission monitoring.   
  • Undertake environment inspections/ audits and routine environment work.
  • Write environmental reports with analysis and interpretation of field data and submit in a timely manner.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental legislation and keep up to date with Fiji and international regulation and legislation.
  • Coordinate all aspects of pollution control, waste management, recycling, environmental health and conservation.
  • Promote and raise awareness, at all levels of the organization, of the impact of emerging environmental issues.
  • Implement best practice in areas of corporate, ethical and social responsibility and address any issues arising.
  • Coordinate public hearings and consultations on environmental matters.
  • Participate in environmental education and research.
  • Undertake logistics and procurement  support of the environment department.

Qualification and other Requirement:

  •       Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or related science field
  •       Over 3 years of experience in environmental work either in public or private entity.
  •       Excellent communication (both verbal and written)
  •       Effective time management and organization sills.
  •       Skill to establish and maintain a good and healthy work relationships within the team and the company, and the community.
  •       GIS knowledge and a valid driving license is an added bonus.
