Role Overview

The Seamer Technician is responsible for operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing can seamers to ensure consistent product quality, operational efficiency, and compliance with food safety standards. This role requires technical expertise in seaming machines, strong problem-solving skills, and adherence to safety and hygiene protocols.

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for seamer operations, monitoring and preventative maintenance.

• Perform and validate changeovers on equipment and machinery as needed including pin heights and tooling changes.

• Responsible for all pneumatics and hydraulic systems for the plant.

• Troubleshoot of seamer machine in seaming defect during operation.

• Minimize downtime of seamer machine.

• Set up seams and prepare machinery for different can sizes as needed.

• Use blueprints diagrams and manuals to aid in preventative maintenance and troubleshooting.

• Perform overhauling of gears boxes, motors, pump motors, seamer machine and homogenizer.

• Dismantle, evaluate and rebuild fillers and seamers as needed. Focus on quality of workmanship and be accountable for results.

• Ensure all maintenance and calibration schedule is reviewed and is planned by Engineer accordingly.

• Lead and assist team (overall and seamer) and provide training to operators.

• Establish list of machines parts for stock inventory and preventative maintenance.

• Perform all duties with required safety regulation and company policies.

• Prepare daily 3 sigma monitoring system report and implement improvement methods required.

• Participate on model review of the plant, GMP & HACCP.

• Conduct hazard identification inspection at each site, classify the hazards identified and implement procedures to ensure hazards identified are managed in a safe way.

Ideal Candidate

• Trade Certificate / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.

• Minimum 5-7 years of hands-on experience with seamer machines in food manufacturing.

• Strong understanding of double seam structure and seam integrity testing.

• Mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills.

• Team management skill including ability to lead, direct and coach.

• Attention to detail and quality-oriented mindset.
