Job Title: Support Engineer – FinTech
Role Purpose:
To lead the full lifecycle of product development and delivery across key banking domains, including Core Banking, Treasury, Trade, and Payments. The Support Engineer will provide production and operational support for Westpac operations across Fiji. The role is responsible for supporting SWIFT Message Payments processing, overseeing core banking operations, and ensuring stable, secure, and timely transaction processing. The Support Engineer will act as a key point of contact during incidents, releases, and changes, ensuring service continuity and adherence to banking and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivering day-to-day production support.
  • Leading payment processing support activities.
  • Driving process improvements.
  • Managing new client change requests.
  • Coordinating closely with development, operations, and business stakeholders, covering documentation, impact analysis, development coordination, and deployment support.
  • Leading support activities for a functional area or module.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in application support, production support, or development within the banking or financial services domain.
  • Strong experience supporting payments systems, preferably SWIFT-based solutions.
  • Exposure to Core Banking operations and high-availability enterprise systems.
  • Experience working with international clients or multi-country operations is an advantage.
  • Strong hands-on experience with SWIFT payments and ISO 20022 message standards.
  • Proficiency in Java, JSP, Oracle, and SQL for investigation and support activities.
  • Experience with API integrations, configuration-driven systems, and payment processing workflows.
  • Working knowledge of Linux commands and shell scripting for production support.
  • Familiarity with ticketing and incident management tools (e.g., JIRA, ServiceNow or equivalent).
  • Strong understanding of production support processes, incident management, and change management.
  • Ability to analyze logs, troubleshoot issues, and support time-critical banking transactions.
  • Experience supporting SIT/UAT and post-deployment activities.
  • Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to lead support activities for a functional area or module.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams across geographies.
