BAT Fiji is seeking a highly organised, proactive, and agile Legal and External Affairs (LEX) Officer to support our Corporate & Regulatory Affairs (CORA) function. This role is suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys collaboration and demonstrates strong communication, stakeholder management and organisational skills. Reporting to the Engagement Manager, the LEX Officer will play a key role in supporting compliance, vendor management, event coordination and corporate affairs activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Support implementation of compliance activities within CORA.
- Manage CORA records (contracts, correspondence, documentation).
- Assist with debtor management and repayment tracking.
- Source quotes and liaise with vendors for events and services.
- Manage vendor onboarding, due diligence and compliance checks.
- Coordinate contract management via ICERTIS with Procurement and Legal.
- Work with Finance to ensure timely vendor payments.
- Assist in planning and delivering CORA events and stakeholder engagements.
- Support internal communications, approvals, and material preparation.
- Provide logistics and administrative support for CORA activities.
- Compile budgets and coordinate vendor logistics, quotes, and setups.
- Support relationships with internal stakeholders and external vendors.
- Assist Legal with compliance, regulatory reporting and audit requests.
- Coordinate on emerging risks, policy updates and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor debtors, follow up on overdue accounts, and escalate risks.
- Identify improvement opportunities in CORA and vendor processes.
Requirements
- 1-2 years’ experience in Legal, Corporate Affairs, Engagement or Compliance.
- Tertiary qualification in a similar field.
- Excellent knowledge of reporting procedures and record keeping.
- A business acumen partnered with a dedication to legality.
- An analytical mind able to “see” the complexities of procedures and regulations.
- Excellent communication skills.
