JOB DESCRIPTION & SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
This position will be based at the Head Office in Karsanji Street, Vatuwaqa reporting to the National Health, Safety and Environment Manager.

The nature of the role includes:

Working with the National HSE Manager and leveraging from existing work to identify gaps in environmental compliance, recommend process oriented solutions to address these gaps that are commercially and operationally sustainable.
Collating relevant information not limited to trade waste agreements, minor and major trade waste resource consents, water abstraction consents, trade waste monitoring data, chemical analysis certificates for all Goodman Fielder manufacturing sites and tabulate information in a manner which provides information on the compliance status of each site with respect to sewer / water Regulator mandated limits and sewer acceptance criteria.
Developing predictive models of trade waste related costs / tariffs which can be gleaned from trade waste monitoring data and bills / notices received by sites.
Reviewing where the non-compliances are and how material these are in terms of business risk and value proposition in making process changes.
Undertaking audits of representative sites warranting a deeper dive due to non-compliance and value proposition of process changes, including upstream waste minimization opportunities.
For critical / high non-complying sites develop concepts around unit operations, processes and systems needed to bring sites into compliance and apply concepts which also produce cost reduction and cleaner production.
Managing Environment metric and build environmental insight and capability of floor level leaders.

Key skills and attributes required:

Tertiary Qualification in Environmental Science, OHS, Engineering, Statistical Analytics relevant field
Minimum of 5 years’ working experience in similar role preferably in an FMCG company.
Knowledge of environmental laws, policies, and protocols.
Proficient user of MS Excel.
Good interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meeting deadlines.
Capability to prioritize workload and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Experience in developing and implementing HSE management systems and sustainability initiatives.
Registered Training Instructor or Training Officer is desirable.
Proven experience in coaching and developing teams to ensure successful outcome.
A valid and current group 2 manual driver’s License.
