Morris Hedstrom (MH) is Fiji’s largest wholesale and retail organization with a chain of Supermarkets and Homemaker (variety) Stores. We are seeking to recruit result oriented, enthusiastic and creative individuals for the Administrative Accountant role to be based in Suva. This is a rare opportunity to join the Carpenters Group with a talented team in a core Accounting role. Responsibilities:

Manage and maintain company fixed asset register.
Review and manage Capex budget.
Process administrative payables ensuring proper coding, authorization and allocation.
Maintain accessible and organised vendor files.
Be familiar with accounting system and accounting coding structure ensuring financial systems and controls are in place.
Administer and reconcile petty cash, allocation of interdepartmental charges, and journal entries.
Ensure financial systems and controls are in place.
Review expenditures and administrative budgets, ensuring that costs are checked against budgets.
Respond to routine inquiries related to accounting and finances.
Play a support role in the review or processing of financial reports.
Provide review and liaison role between staff and treasury function regarding wire transfers and for routine vendor payments.
Review proposal budgets prior to submission.
Review corresponding budget notes for consistency with budget notes clarity of presentation.
Review and release travel advance requests.
Assist with preparation for annual audits.
Provide training to new staff on finance, accounting, and administrative systems.

 

Requirements:

Applicants should possess and be able to demonstrate solid experience in all the above areas.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration.
Minimum of 3–5 years of demonstrated experience in the accounting, finance and administrative area.
Excellent oral, written communication and problem solving ability.
Excellent computer skills, including advance Excel skills and experience with automated accounting systems.
Ability to train/mentor staff in accounting requirements and administrative operations.
