Fiji Hardwood Corporation Limited (FHCL) is a Government Statutory Enterprise, regulated under the Public Enterprises Act of 2019. It manages around 75,000 hectares of plantation estate of which 41,000 hectares of matured mahogany plants. There are a total of 14 Forest Stations in Viti Levu and Vanua Levu out of which, seven (7) Forest Stations are currently operating, i.e. Naboutini, Galoa, Nukurua, Sawakasa Nausori Highland, Nadarivatu and Seaqaqa/Korotari. We are committed to maintaining the ecological balance while providing high-quality product from our Mahogany plantations. As we continue to grow, we are looking for skilled and motivated individuals to join our team as Survey & Planning technicians in Viti Levu and Vanua Levu.
Key Responsibilities
As a Survey and Inventory Technicians, you will be responsible for:
· Conducting comprehensive assessment of areas with matured mahogany plants that are ready for harvesting
· Marking boundaries of designated harvesting and plantation areas in compliance with environmental regulations
· Verifying health & quality of Mahogany trees within the planned coupe
· Setting clearing boundaries and establishing haulage roads to optimize access for harvesting equipment
· Accurately assessing and documenting the number of remaining trees in each coupe prior to harvesting
· Collaborating with Harvesting Team to ensure adherence to sustainable practices during the planning and execution phases
· Conducting coupe opening and coupe closure verifications
Qualification & Other attributes
· Must attain, Degree or Diploma in Forestry, Environmental Science, Geomatics or any related field from a reputable institution
· Proven experience in forestry surveying or plantation management is preferred
· Strong knowledge of Mahogany species and forestry practices
· Ability to read and interpret maps and technical drawings
· Proficiency in using surveying equipment’s and software
· Excellent attention to details and strong analytical skills
· Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
· Strong problem-solving skills and attention to details
· Flexible to work in both dry/wet weather condition
· Be able to camp and stay in barracks provided by the company during working hours and some weekends
· Ability to work independently and in a team environment
