JOB DESCRIPTION & SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Aspen Medical is seeking enthusiastic candidates for the role of Accountant – Revenue and Compliance. Reporting to the Financial Controller, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely revenue recognition and collections in accordance with the established relevant policies and standards.
The roles and responsibilities of this position include:
- Determine monthly revenue forecast, perform monthly revenue analysis and reports to management.
- Play a hands-on role responsible for jointly developing and implementing financial policies and procedures.
- Responsible for ensuring proper reconciliation of bank statements and General Ledger accounts in adherence to established internal control procedures.
- Ensure accurate recording of revenue from the DRG system.
- Identify and implement initiatives to increase chargeable patient revenue in appropriate and cost-effective ways.
- Provide financial data and other information to management as and when required.
- Attend to department queries concerning budgets and financial information.
- Ensuring compliance requirements as per the Concession Agreements and other regulatory and tax compliance.
- Review and interpret contracts for proper billing terms and assist in management aspects of the revenue process.
- Assist in preparing monthly management accounts and providing commentary on the results against forecasts and budgets.
- Assist in preparation of the annual budget, analysing financial revenue trends and preparing cash flow statements.
- Responding to financial inquiries from the Government by gathering and interpreting data.
- Monitoring and reporting on accounting inconsistencies.
- Contribute towards development and improvements to financial policy and procedures.
- Managing and training accounting staff when necessary.
- Completing ad hoc financial and management reports as required.
- Assisting with internal and external audits.
- Play a joint role in ensuring the smooth operations of the finance department.
- Jointly coaching staff in their areas of responsibility.
- Any other duties assigned by the Financial Controller.
Experience and Qualifications Required
- Degree in Accounting and Financial Management
- Must have CA/CPA membership
- At least five years relevant experience as an Accountant or similar position
- Possess the ability to multi-task and work under minimum supervision
- Must be a team player with an ability to guide the subordinates
- Possess strong Microsoft Office Excel skills
- Possess well developed analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Demonstrated knowledge of accounting standards
- Knowledge of the Health Industry and prior experience of working with Oracle systems is desirable
