What is the job?
Our guests’ memorable experiences have to start somewhere. So why not with you? We’re looking for a Banquets Manager to take ownership of delivering exceptional first impressions – managing efficient operation of our banqueting functions & events to provide exceptional product and service within the brand operating standards. This is a great opportunity to work in an autonomous role, making change and driving the business to achieve operational objectives whilst driving the development of our team, of which you will play an integral part. With the strategic rapid growth of our brands in Fiji at IHG Hotels and Resorts, we are looking for a seasoned Banquets Manager with one of the world’s upscale brands to join our team.


A little taste of your day-to-day:

Every day is different, but you’ll mostly be:
Plan, organize, and execute conferences, banquets, and events of all sizes, from initial inquiry to post-event evaluation.
Collaborate with clients, event planners, and the hotel’s sales team to understand event requirements and ensure successful implementation.
Coordinate with various departments within the hotel, such as Kitchen, IT, and Housekeeping, to ensure all event details are executed flawlessly.
Oversee and lead event staff, including servers and banquet captains, to ensure a high level of service and attention to detail.
Manage event budgets and financial aspects, including pricing, billing, and revenue optimization.
Maintain accurate event records, contracts, and post-event reports.
Provide exceptional service by addressing guests’ needs, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring guest satisfaction.
Oversee event setup, decorate, and any special arrangements, ensuring they align with the guests’ vision.
Keep up to date with industry trends and innovations to offer guests the latest in event services.
Proven experience in event planning, banquet management, or a related field, preferably in a luxury hotel or similar.



What we need from you:

4+ years’ related experience, including management experience.
Experience of operating in a luxury four or five-star food and beverage operation.
High standard of personal presentation.
Meticulous eye for detail and exceptional planning and organizational skills.
Excellent communication, influencing and interpersonal skills with a confident and outgoing personality and an ability to interact with people at all levels.
Passion for delivering exceptional guest service.
Ability to multitask and work in a busy, fast paced and dynamic environment.
Ability to take initiative and a practical approach to problem solving.
Positive and flexible approach to work (Weekend, evening and night time work will be required).
Knowledge of managing budgets and profit margins would be advantageous.
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
Excellent communication and negotiation skills
Knowledge of event management software and Microsoft Office applications
