Business Manager

Our client, The Learning Centre (TLC), a small private school based in Suva is seeking a qualified and experienced individual for the position of Business Manager.

The Business Manager manages the non-instructional operations of TLC in particular the financial operations of the centre including facility management, personnel management, payroll activities, compliance to all statutory requirements and all duties assigned by the Board, Trustees, Executive Committee and CEO/Principal.

The role reports to: CEO / Principal.

Summary of Key Accountabilities:

Billing & Accounts Receivable

Billing of all fees: tuition, building, equipment, book fees etc.
Responsible for the Accounts Receivable function in accordance with the School Policies and providing monthly debtors reports to the CEO/Principal highlighting potential issues.

Financial Performance

Ensure accurate, complete and timely financial and management reporting is done.
Responsible for strategic planning, reporting and financial budgeting including Capex and Opex, all Accounts Payable function including reconciliation of supplier statements and ensuring that payments are carried out in an accurate and timely manner.
Ensure the full reconciliation of GL accounts and stock control including monthly stock count and replenishment.
Accurate management of payroll including proper reconciliation of all leave balances.
Ensure timely submission of tax lodgements and payment of all taxes and employer requirements such as VAT, Income Tax, PAYE, FNU Levies and FNPF Contributions.
Responsible for the update of the Chart of Accounts and the upkeep of the Accounting General Ledger System (Xero).

Facility Management

Responsible for the maintenance of all school buildings, the upkeep of all furniture, fittings, and equipment and the preparation and implementation of an effective Repairs and Maintenance Plan.
Ensure compliance to building & safety policies of the school are adhered to.

Projects & the Executive Committee

Responsible for the planning and execution of projects as required by the Executive Committee and spearhead sub-committees to ensure objectives are achieved.

System Management

Responsible for the upkeep of the TPOS system, upkeep of the FNPF Portal, upkeep of the Xero Accounting System and all TLC databases.

Qualifications and Experience:

The successful candidate must have the following qualifications, skills and experience:
A Bachelors Degree in Business Management / Finance / Commerce, Accounting & Finance / Management & Information Systems.
At least 5 years of progressive experience in the area of business management.
Demonstrated experience with managing people and processes.
Demonstrated experience in accounts management, including budgeting, forecasting, monthly financial reporting and compliance.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent analytical and numerical skills.
Sound ability to strategically solve problems
Knowledge and experience with Accounting Software (experience with Xero would be an added advantage).
Proficiency in preparing and presenting financial statements.
Highly flexible to adapt to the dynamic environment of the school.
Experience with an external audit process.
Accuracy and attention to detail with exceptional customer service.
Detail-oriented with strong multi-tasking skills.
High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
