The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced and qualified carpenter to join our team at Estates & Infrastructure, helping to maintain our USP Campuses to world class standards for excellence and safety.
Based at Laucala Campus in Suva, the Carpenter will have an exiting opportunity to work in a diverse team including other trades staff and USP approved contractors to ensure all buildings and campus infrastructure is well maintained and kept in excellent condition for our students, staff and visitors to the campus to enjoy.
The Person We Seek
To be considered for this position, applicants must have:
– At least 5 years of experience in carpentry and or joinery works, preferably in a large organization, commercial business, resort or similar property where a well maintained facility is a fundamental quality of the business;
– Formal Qualifications in Carpentry and or Joinery from recognized institutions (Trade Certificate in Carpentry);
– Knowledge of Tools and methods of the trade, materials and the Fiji building codes; and
– Understanding of Health and Safety Requirements in relation to Fiji Laws. Holds a current valid driver’s license
– Good communications skills including some basic computer literacy or smart phone skills (Email, MS Word and Excel)
Preference will be given to applicants with:
– Ability to read, interpret and work from blueprints, building plans; prepare rough sketches of work and estimates of material and labor;
– Persons with additional certification and experience with OHS and Quality Standards in the trades fields.

The position is available for a term of three years and may be renewed by mutual agreement.
Salary Range: FJ $11,623 to FJ $19,480 per annum
