CHIEF INFORMATION & SECURITY OFFICER – Telecom Fiji

We seek a visionary CISO to align our technology strategy with business growth. The Chief Information & Security Officer (CISO) will oversee all aspects of information technology (internal systems, OSS/BSS, data platforms) and cybersecurity (governance, risk, compliance, threat management). This role ensures that digital transformation accelerates safely – balancing innovation with resilience against evolving cyber threats targeting telecom infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead enterprise IT roadmap, including BSS (billing, CRM, order management) and OSS (network provisioning, assurance, inventory) and ICT Infrastructure.
  • Digital Transformation: Lead initiatives in AI-driven customer support, self-service portals, and data monetization. Drive automation of manual processes across sales, fulfillment, and assurance.
  • Data Management: Build a secure data warehouse for customer analytics, churn prediction, targeted marketing and other business initiatives.
  • Vendor Management: Negotiate and manage relationships with software vendors, system integrators, and cloud providers (AWS, Azure, Google).
  • Team Leadership: Mentor IT architects, developers, DBAs, and support staff.
  • Cybersecurity Strategy: Develop and enforce a telecom-specific security framework aligned with NIST CSF, ISO 27001, and local regulations.
  • Threat Management: Lead 24/7 Security Operations Center (SOC), threat hunting, intrusion detection, and incident response for network and IT systems.
  • Network Security: Protect SS7, Diameter, 5G core, and signaling planes from fraud and interception attacks.
  • Customer solutions: Oversee the design, presentation, and implementation of cybersecurity and other ICT solutions to enterprise customers and government entities.
  • Compliance & Audit: Ensure compliance with data privacy laws, telecom licensing conditions, and breach notification rules. Manage internal and external audits.
  • Risk Management: Conduct regular risk assessments, business continuity planning, and disaster recovery testing.
  • Security Awareness: Train all employees on phishing, social engineering, and secure coding practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • A Master’s in Information Security or CISSP, CISM, or CRISC are highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 12+ years’ experience in IT and/or security leadership, including at least 6 years within the telecommunications industry.
  • Strong expertise in BSS/OSS systems, with experience in Oracle Converged OSS/BSS considered an added advantage.
  • Demonstrated success in securing telecom networks, including SS7, 5G, signalling, and DPI. Proven ability to lead incident response efforts and manage major security breaches or fraud events.
  • Solid understanding of cloud security, zero-trust architecture, and API security. An exceptional communicator, capable of engaging effectively with boards, regulators, and technical teams.
  • Able to manage crises under pressure while maintaining a strategic balance between agility and security.
