Reporting to the Resort Manager, as the Director of Engineering and Facilities Manager you will work with the leadership team of the InterContinental Fiji Resort and Golf Club to continuously drive and identify opportunities for efficiencies in the facilities operations, energy, water and waste consumption as well as ways to enhance the experience of our guests.

You will be experienced in the management of contracts, contractor relationships, assets and capital project management – leveraging these skills to oversee the upcoming extensive refurbishment and renovation projects across the Resort.

On a daily basis you will contribute to the overarching smooth operation of the resort, overseeing the full scope of the engineering, maintenance, sewerage & water treatment, irrigation, fire detection, backup electrical, HVAC & chiller plant, refrigeration, utilities & resort vehicle and golf cart fleet operations, with the view of ensuring a seamless guest experience. You will perform Resort senior duty manager functions, manage the department’s daily activities  through strong planning, allocation of work, communication of goals, and effective scheduling of employees to ensure sufficient coverage.

Being a fast paced environment, you will balance your Risk Management, WH&S and Fire Life Safety responsibilities with engaging, motivating and upskilling your Engineering team. You will be across the local regulatory requirements and ensure our InterContinental Brand Standards are at the heart of what you do.

What we need from you

To be successful in this role you will need to have 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role in Resort operations, preferably in a large complex property or sizeable, complex facilities management roles. A degree in Mechanical/Chemical Engineering preferred, though a support trade diploma acceptable.

You will demonstrate an ability to manage multiple and varying projects and your team management skills will be second to none. You will have strong communication skills in both written and oral English, and be computer literate. You will have the ability to work alongside a team and collaborate with key stakeholders strategically and with a sense of planned urgency. You will be passionate about innovative solutions, and be excited about the opportunity to explore new ways of working to drive the Resort forward and deliver unrivalled guest journeys.

Given the nature of our Resort, flexibility to work a varied roster including, late evenings, weekends and public is essential.
