The Sangam College of Nursing is one of Fiji’s leading health education institutions, committed to producing highly competent, ethical, and compassionate healthcare professionals. The College currently offers the Nurse Practitioners program, Enrolled Nursing program, Bachelor of Nursing program and a Postgraduate Diploma in Midwifery, amongst others and is now entering an exciting phase of strategic expansion into medical and allied health education. The College aims to evolve into a comprehensive centre for health sciences education through the development of an MBBS program and a range of para-medical and allied health programs that respond to the growing healthcare needs of Fiji and the wider Pacific region.
The Opportunity
The College is seeking to appoint a dynamic, visionary, and academically distinguished individual to the position of Director. The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for the institution while driving the expansion of the College into medical and allied health education. The Director will play a pivotal role in the teaching, planning, development, accreditation, and implementation of the proposed MBBS program and other para-medical programs. The appointee is also expected to contribute to teaching and research activities, particularly within the MBBS and related health science programs.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide overall academic, administrative, and strategic leadership to the College.
- Lead the development and implementation of the College’s strategic plan.
- Position the College as a leading regional institution in nursing, medical, and allied health education.
- Oversee the effective delivery and continuous improvement of all academic programs.
- Lead curriculum development and accreditation processes for the MBBS program and other allied health and para-medical programs.
- Ensure academic quality assurance and compliance with national and international standards.
- Teach within the MBBS and/or related health science programs.
- Develop partnerships with universities, teaching hospitals, health ministries, and professional bodies locally and internationally.
- Promote research, innovation, and evidence-based practice within the College.
- Lead initiatives aimed at expanding academic offerings and strengthening institutional capacity.
- Oversee financial planning, budgeting, human resource management, and administrative operations of the College.
- Ensure efficient utilisation of institutional resources and effective workforce management.
- Strengthen partnerships with hospitals, clinics, and healthcare providers for clinical training and research.
- Ensure all programs comply with the requirements of the relevant Nursing, Medical, and Higher Education regulatory authorities.
Requirements
- A postgraduate qualification (Master’s degree or higher) in Nursing, Medicine, Medical Education, Health Sciences, or a related discipline.
- A doctoral qualification will be an added advantage.
- At least 15 years of teaching medicine or clinical practice in a tertiary education institution, medical school, nursing school, hospital, or related healthcare environment.
- Demonstrated experience in academic program development, accreditation, and institutional leadership.
- Experience in managing, establishing or developing medical and allied health programs will be highly desirable.
- Strong strategic planning and institutional development capabilities.
- Proven leadership and people management skills.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and partnership-building abilities.
- Strong financial and administrative management capabilities.
- Commitment to academic excellence, research, and innovation.
