ELECTRICAL TECHNICIAN – The Vital Group

The role will manage all safety, maintenance and new minor electrical installation works of relevant locations and ensure site readiness for works. The Technician will work in accordance to HSSE’s procedures with a good knowledge of isolation, energy risk, understanding of electrical equipment and experienced in understanding electrical circuit diagrams and drawings. S/he reports to the Maintenance Supervisor, and will be responsible for successfully driving the following critical outcomes for the organisation:

  • Technical efficiency and effectiveness are expertly supported
  • Operations and maintenance of all electrical plants and auxiliary equipment addressed on a daily basis
  • Major maintenance and repair of all electrical plants and auxiliary equipment in FSM, Guam and Nauru
  • Assigned work plans for operation, repair and maintenance of Diesel Power Plant, Fuel Terminals and Buildings effectively carried out
  • Works associated with electrical plants and auxiliaries’ installation works, commissioning and re­commissioning are compliant with electricity regulation and wiring standards
  • Technical Input and advice on team assignments and activities are provided
  • Technical support provided to Maintenance Supervisor and Electrical Engineer in carrying out Out-station Electrical plants, equipment’s and auxiliaries repair and maintenance
  • Technical assistance in fault investigations and root cause analysis
  • Compliance with lawful direction given by Vital Energy with respect to health and safety matters under current Safety acts and regulations – In compliance with AS/NZ3000 and HSSE
  • The person we seek will have significant experience of at least 10 years in a similar role/field with a Diploma in Electric Engineering or similar field. The applicant must possess the following:
  • Knowledge of High Voltage (HV) systems. Transformers, HV switchgear, protection systems and switching operations. Understanding of DC systems, battery banks, inverters ad charging systems
  • Working knowledge of AS/NZS3000 wiring rules and LV wiring
  • Electrical licence or Wiremen Licence and experienced in the use of electrical testing equipment
