LOCATION: Nadi, Fiji

ROLE POSITIONING AND OBJECTIVES

This role is part of Leaf Department.

A key technical specialist responsible for providing farmers with advice & assistance regarding cultural practices required to grow tobacco, and then to purchase green leaf to correct physical and smoking qualities as required by BAT SEA blenders, to price and quality standards set by the Head of Leaf Fiji. This role provides the foundation for the production of quality tobacco required to meet cigarette production requirements and the customer satisfied with the product

Reports to: Area Manager

WHAT YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR

• To plan and organise farmer registration as per the given target and plan all field cultivation activities to achieve required tobacco volume including land selection & preparation ensuring accurate measuring.
• To supply farmers the required quantity of seedlings, fertilizer, chemicals etc. ensuring that the issues do not exceed the requirement for the hectarage.
• To implement the correct field cultivation techniques by farmers to ensure that quality and good farm husbandry is maintained.
• Work closely with the farming community to maintain good relationships ensuring SDC can produce yearly tobacco requirements thereby securing BAT Fiji ongoing profit.

CRUCIAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

• Certificate/Diploma Qualifications from the Fiji College of Agriculture or similar recognized institutions.
• Minimum of 2 years work experience in similar organisations.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Must have good communication skills.
