Under the general direction of the Maintenance Supervisor / Asst. Chief Engineer and Chief Engineer, and within the limits of established InterContinental Hotels & Resorts and hotel’s policies and procedures, ensure that routine maintenance is performed in order for the Hotels equipment to be operated with maximum efficiency to achieve customer and guest satisfaction.

We are looking for enthusiastic and professional team players who know how to deliver great service and exceed guest expectations.

Punctuality/neatness, reporting for duty at the roistered time correctly attired (adhering to grooming standards), and with a positive work attitude.
To communicate daily with other staff and managers in a clear, and courteous manner.
To posses tools pertaining your trade and understand the proper way to use and carry out ones duties.
To carry out routine and minor maintenance of systems.
To carry out planned maintenance of hotel systems and structures.
To carry out corrective maintenance of guestrooms and equipment.
To monitor hotel plant
To assist Engineering team members in all tasks as required.
Complete all necessary maintenance documentation as required.
To maintain stock levels, order stock as required &/or requested to ensure the smooth running of the hotel.
Ensure all work areas are left in a clean safe and tidy manner.
Prioritize work as required in order to ensure guest comfort.
To greet all guests with a courteous manner.
To provide quality customer service and ensure customer satisfaction.
To perform all tasks in a safe and professional manner.
Maintain a high standard of departmental work practices.
Work as directed by the Chief Engineer /Engineering Supervisor/Manager using all Personal Protective Equipment deemed necessary for the task being undertaken.
If uncertain, to always seek advice from the Supervisor/Asst Chief engineer/Chief Engineer.
Act as a member of the hotel fire response team.
Ensure compliance with all InterContinental Hotels Group and InterContinental Fiji
Golf Resort & Spa OH&S Policy and Procedure.
Follow all health & safety policies and procedures in order to perform work in a safe manner.
Promptly report workplace hazards, injuries or “near misses” to your immediate Supervisor or Manager.
Cooperate with Management in the implementation of OHS initiatives and activities, and return to work programs.
Perform other related duties, as assigned.


What we need from you

Trade Diploma or equivalent in either Welding/Plumbing/Carpentry and/or HVAC.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in similar role at a similar 5-star resort setting.
Proven knowledge in the installation, operation, maintenance and repair of the equipment.
Must be able to work in chiller and plant room.
Commitment to work rotating shifts, weekends and public holidays.
Great communication skills.
Oral and written fluency in English.
Outgoing and people oriented.
Able to multi-task and ability to handle stressful situations.
Proficient in Excel and Microsoft word (optional).
Must be able to use various power tools.
Must have a valid driver’s license.
Must be able to lift/carry heavy objects, be able to stand on feet for extended periods of time, frequent bending, lifting, stooping, kneeling.
Must have excellent customer service skills.
