SUMMARY
The Fiji Museum seeks a dynamic individual as Head of Special Projects with the responsibility of overseeing some significant
project commitments aligned to our key Strategic Objectives and Goals:
Job Title: Head of Special Projects.
Sections: Curatorial, Education, & Collections Management
Reports to: Director Fiji Museum
Current project commitments include:
i) GOAL 1 & 5. Voyages Exhibition: A major new exhibition that uses technology and innovative design to represent the Fiji Museum’s Collection to our visitors.
ii) GOAL 3. 4. Collection Project: Audit the Fiji Museum Collection and engage the community in the process.
iii) GOAL 4. Education Project: Making Collections accessible and engaging visitors through a range of interpretation
mechanisms.
iv) GOAL 1, 3, & 4. Capital Projects: Ensuring that all capital projects are aligned to the Fiji Museum’s strategies and the
significant projects outlined above.
v) GOAL 2 & 6. Review & re-structure of the Fiji Museum establishment to ensure that our national museum has all the skill
sets and competencies to successfully fulfil its mandate to the public and ensure institutional competency and resilience.
The Museum is strongly committed towards re-establishing a research & publication program that blends scholarship and
connoisseurship with equity and inclusion in paradigm-shifting ways for the twenty-first century Museum.
This position will report directly to the Fiji Museum Director and operate as Head of Special Projects, overseeing the
curatorial, collection, education and other significant project initiatives for our museum.
This person will have the skills and experience to support our efforts to ensure that the national museum is able to
successfully manage our valuable collection, as well as engage our community with it such a way as to inspire and celebrate
creativity, diversity and innovation for the next generation.
