JOB DESCRIPTION & SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
MASTER CLASS 4 OR 5 CAPTAIN
To be successful in this role you must have the follawing knowledge, experience and attributes:
First Aid Certificate (essential).
A ccurrent valid driver’s license (essential).
Experience driving boats and boat maintenance.
Available to work a flexible roster across Monday to Sunday as required.
A great attitude and willingness to learn.
A focus on providing excellent customer service at all times.
Excellent time management skills.
The command of the vessel and its crew
Induction training of visitors, employees and other persons as authorized
Motivate the vessel crew to be familiar with requirements of, and to comply with, the safety management systems
Manage crew discipline, dealing with issues as appropriate and escalating to management where required
Supervision and assistance with maintenance as necessary
The preparation of operational reports as required
Maintenance of vessels, equipment, firefighting and environmental protection equipment and relevant store-based facilities
Compliance with policies and procedures authorised by Svitzer and consistent with statutory obligations including quality assurance.
The salary is negotiable and commensurate with experience.
What You Will Need To Succeed
To be successful in this position, you will be able to demonstrate:
A minimum Master Grade 3 or 4 Certificate of Competency (essential).
A relevant Radio Operators Certificate of Proficiency or Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) Certificate of Proficiency
Statements of attainment to Provide First Aid (HLTAIDOO3) (at least 2 years validity)
A current Medical (or the ability to obtain)
Extensive experience in the maritime industry
Proven ability to lead and work as part of an effective team
Ability to work under pressure, particularly in emergency situations
Attention to detail and ability to effectively prioritize tasks
Excellent interpersonal and communication (both verbal and written) skills
