Save the Children Fiji (SC Fiji) is a leading child rights Non-Governmental Organisation working to improve the lives of children.  SC Fiji is currently recruiting for the following position:

Are you an exceptional leader driven to create change for children across the Pacific? We are looking for someone with a cohesive leadership style and remarkable interpersonal skills crucial to building relationships and inspiring the team to take Save the Children programs to the next level of quality, scale, and localisation. Does this sound like you?  We’d love to talk to you about taking on the challenge of implementing an ambitious strategy and create impact that will last for generations,

Save the Children is no ordinary not-for-profit.

We’re ambitious, creative and outspoken. We stand up for children’s rights. We want all children to be educated, healthy and live a life free from violence.  We run programs in Australia and overseas and, if there’s a disaster – like an earthquake, drought or conflict – we are there on the ground.

 Where you come in:

This is a full-time permanent position based in either Australia or elsewhere in the Pacific.  You will lead a dynamic and passionate team, providing strategic direction and guidance and raising the profile of Save the Children’s work both internally and externally. You will be part of our International Programs Leadership Team and report to our Managing Director, International Programs & Public Affairs.

You will make an impact by:

  • Leading the development and delivery of Save the Children Australia’s Pacific strategy for achieving child rights breakthroughs
  • Leading and inspiring the Pacific team while building a cohesive and collaborative culture, commitment to child rights and driving talent development
  • Developing strong and effective relationships with governments, non-government agencies, private sector donors and community partners
  • Driving business development for the Pacific including identification and testing of new business models
  • Managing the finance and operations of the Region and provide oversight across Country Offices in Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu as well as our programs in Fiji and Tonga.

Does this sound like you?

Your understanding of the social, economic and political issues of the Pacific region, along with your highly developed leadership skills, sees you drive a team to deliver immediate and lasting results.  You have experience of international development projects, a track record of securing significant new opportunities and are experienced with finance, quality and monitoring. You have also built high levels of cultural awareness and have a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.

This role requires:

  • Substantial senior management experience in a development and/or humanitarian context
  • Financial management experience including large-scale budgets, instituting financial controls and all aspects of grant management
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically, analyse complex information and generate creative, practical solutions
  • Interpersonal and intrapersonal qualities and competencies for building trust, self-awareness and psychological safety

We welcome discussion with anyone interested in the position as outlined. If you meet some, but not all the requirements, you should still speak to us.

This is a full-time, permanent position, however, please talk to us about how we can make this role flexible for you including (but not limited to) flexible hours and location.

In addition to a connection to social causes, you will have access to:

  • Opportunity to work on additional projects alongside business as usual
  • Internal employment and development opportunities
  • Flexible and agile working environment including working from home
  • Child friendly work environment
  • Support for workplace wellness, including access to our Employment Assistance Program (AEP)
