The role is based at our Head Office in Suva, and the successful incumbent will report to Manager Securities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Attend to the Bank’s conveyancing matters, including managing legal, regulatory, and compliance requirements.
  • Prepare security documentation and legal instruments with a high degree of accuracy to ensure the Bank’s interests are adequately protected.
  • Ensure timely lodgement of security documents for registration.
  • Manage and control inward and outward settlements, including issuing instructions to solicitors.
  • Liaise effectively with the Bank’s panel of solicitors, statutory and government bodies, and internal business units to ensure efficient delivery of legal services.
  • Attend to the discharge of securities and settlements with relevant parties in a timely manner.
  • Monitor legal compliance requirements and stay abreast of regulatory developments.

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in Legal Studies or a related discipline is desirable but not essential.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Sound knowledge of conveyancing practices, security documentation, and the litigation process.
  • Demonstrated ability to draft legal documents accurately and efficiently.
  • Strong understanding of the legal and regulatory framework within which the Bank operates.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with government agencies, agencies, solicitors, customers, and court officials.
  • Strong attention to detail and sound professional judgement.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a demanding environment.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and general computer applications.
