Key Responsibilities
- Reports directly to the Chief Medical Officer to ensure the efficient daily operation of the Forensic Pathology Unit
- Provides professional overseership of the assigned Police Division, ensuring forensic standards are upheld.
- Conducts forensic pathological investigations into reportable deaths, including autopsies and preparation of comprehensive autopsy reports.
- Performs histology specimen loading and prepares detailed histology reports.
- Manages forensic medicine services and unit administration in the absence of the Chief Medical Officer or designated superiors.
- Ensures ongoing participation in internal and external quality assurance schemes, proficiency testing, and continuous professional development.
- Provides expert advice to stakeholders and affiliated bodies on matters relating to forensic services
- Establishes and maintains effective communication channels, fostering strong working relationships within the unit and across departments to achieve objectives.
- Maintains broad and current knowledge of local issues, police operational procedures, and divisional action plans.
- Actively contributes to all corporate requirements of the Fiji Police Force, aligning with institutional goals and strategic outputs.
Requirements
- Sound oral and written communication skills.
- An understanding of the requirements of the position and a demonstrated strong record of commitment and achievement in meeting customer needs.
- Knowledge of basic computer skills
- Appointee should have at least 2 years’ experience in this particular field of medicine.
- Assessed potential and ability in the performance of the role of Senior Medical Officer.
- Must have a Bachelor in Medicine and Bachelor in Surgery and completed or in the process of completing a Postgraduate Diploma in Pathology.
- All applicants for employment in the Fiji Police Force must be Fiji Citizens, under the age of 55 years, in sound health with a clean police record.
