JOB DESCRIPTION & SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

Emergency Preparedness and Response Program Officer

• Responsible for supporting the planning, logistics, operations and monitoring the activities of the EPR program
• Full time until December 2024
• Suva, Fiji
The Program
The Fiji Program Support Facility (the Facility) was established in 2017 to support and implement Australia’s aid programs such as health, education, emergency preparedness and response and governance in Fiji. The Facility also supports the Australia Awards in Fiji and Tuvalu. The Facility integrates cross-cutting themes, including gender equality, disability and social inclusion, climate change and Disaster Risk Reduction, across sectoral programs. In particular, the Facility seeks to strengthen program outcomes by better addressing the needs of targeted beneficiaries including those who are often marginalised.

Australia supports Fiji’s Ministry of Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management (MRMDDM), particularly the National Disaster Management Office (NDMO), to prepare for and respond to emergencies, such as cyclones and the COVID-19 pandemic. As part of the Australian Government’s assistance, the Emergency Preparedness and Response Program supports locally led emergency preparedness and response in Fiji in line with Government of Fiji’s Priority and also contributes to system strengthening for long term resilience. The Facility has managed the PRF, enabling the swift release of emergency funds to assist the Government of Fiji, including the Ministry of Education Heritage and Arts
(MEHA) and the Ministry of Health and Medical Services (MHMS), with immediate requirements following an emergency.

The Position
The EPR Program Officer will report to the EPR Team Leader and be responsible for supporting the EPR team with the day-to-day activities. The EPR Program Officer will also be required to develop and maintain highly effective relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including Government of Fiji staff, Civil Society Organisations and the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT).

The Person
The ideal candidate will have tertiary level qualifications in areas such as disaster management, humanitarian response or other related fields, for example, social sciences or international development. The successful candidate will have a minimum of three years’ experience working in a project coordination and administration role within international development or similar. They will also have experience working in the field of Emergency and Disaster Risk Management. This person will have strong attention to detail, knowledge of the principles of effective project management and the ability to work independently within tight deadlines. The ideal candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, engaging effectively and sensitively with people of various cultures, disciplines, and stakeholder organisations.

This position is locally engaged and reserved for National Citizens of Fiji. The annual salary will be between FJD 59,341 and 69,069, dependent upon the successful candidate’s skills and experience.

Tetra Tech is an equal opportunity employer and provides the same competitive remuneration package regardless of country of origin.
