The Opportunity

The Forum Secretariat is looking for a Programme Adviser – Climate Risk Finance & Governance to join the team in Suva, Fiji. This role is established to provide technical expertise within the Resilience team at PIFS, with a focus on the nexus between Public Financial Management and Climate Finance.

To facilitate the above, the incumbent will be responsible for:

Technical support and coordination of climate finance and risk governance priorities;
Peer learning and capacity building; and
Applied research, political advocacy and policy advice.
The Secretariat seeks a strategic and proficient individual with an advanced degree (Master’s level) in economics, social science, climate change, disaster risk management or related field with at least 7 years’ experience of developments in Disaster Risk Finance and Insurance and resilient development financing in the Small Island Developing States, preferably in the Pacific region. Applicants with demonstrated understanding and experience of challenges and developments in Climate Finance and Public Financial Management in the Small Island Developing States, preferably with specific experience working in the Pacific.

The Benefits

The appointment carries a competitive remuneration and benefits package including medical and life insurance. The starting salary will be in the range of SDR 43,143 to SDR 48,535 per annum. At the 1 June 2022 exchange rate this salary range was equivalent to FJD126,519 to FJD142,331. For non-Fijian nationals, this salary may be tax-free. To be eligible for this position, the applicant must be a national of a Forum member country*. Applicants must be willing to travel periodically via economy class.
