JOB DESCRIPTION & SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Wellesley Resort which is situated along the Coral Coast is looking for a full time qualified, experienced and hardworking chef who is passionate about food and cooking. An enthusiastic individual who has a flair for creativity and is able to lead and assist in running our resort kitchen smoothly.
Core Responsibilies:
•provides direction for all day to day operations
•provides guidance to subordinates by setting performance standards and monitoring them
•controls procedures for purchasing and receiving items
•cleanliness and paying attention to detail as well as demonstrated culinary expertise.
•communicates and monitors kitchen safety procedures with staff
•manages department controllable expenses including food cost, supplies, uniforms and equipment
•provides direction for menu development
•works to continually improve guest satisfaction by ensuring consistency in the quality and taste of food
•ensures compliance with food handling and sanitation standards
•utilize interpersonal and communication skills to lead, influence and encourage others
•advocate sound financial/business decision- making
•demonstrates honesty, integrity and leads by example
•ensures property policies are administrated fairly and consistently
•supervises and coordinates activities of cooks and engages in food preparations
•demonstrates new cooking techniques and equipment to staff
•interacts with guests to obtain feedback on product quality and service levels
•responds to and handles guest problems and complaints
•provides information and feedback to managers and contribute towards problem solving
Education and experience requirements:
•high school certification
•formal culinary training/culinary degree or diploma
•3-5 years experience in high volume kitchens
•previous kitchen management experience
