JOB DESCRIPTION & SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Morris Hedstrom (MH) is Fiji’s largest wholesale and retail organization with a chain of Supermarkets and Homemaker (variety) Stores. We are looking for successful incumbents to join our procurement team in Suva.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with good generic buying skills and a high degree of business acumen in the below categories;
Food & Beverage
Fresh & Frozen
Produce
Non-Food
Key Responsibilities:
Source the best and most cost effective suppliers to deliver results that will develop the company’s opportunities in the market
Maintain relationships with existing suppliers and source new suppliers for future products
Provide support and training to store staff to manage the purchasing performance and ensure product supply meets demand
Negotiate the best price possible for products within the category
Conducts post-promotional reviews and analysis to determine if promotional requirements were met
Visits stores as needed to monitor promotional lines, obtain store feedback and to assess overall sales and movement of product lines
Resolves store distribution issues by acting as a liaison with the suppliers, warehouse operations and store associates
Position Requirements:
3-5 years of experience as a Buyer/Purchasing Officer or a similar role
Possess relevant tertiary qualifications in Procurement or a related field
Able to effectively communicate with other buyers and external suppliers
Knowledge in merchandise planning and development/implementation of assortment plans
Excellent negotiator with strong and proven communication, leadership and marketing skills
Strong analytical skills
