Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for conducting forensic examinations and scientific analyses of exhibits, including DNA testing, crime scene attendance, exhibit collection, preparation of forensic reports, and provision of expert evidence in court.
  • Assist the Principal Scientific Officer with laboratory management, administrative functions, and all laboratory-related correspondence.
  • Provide scientific support and evidence to field investigators and maintain effective professional relationships with local and international counterparts.
  • Develop, implement, and facilitate Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Management (QM) systems and ensure compliance with health and safety requirements in all laboratory activities.
  • Responsible for laboratory research, method development and validation, staff training and development, and the coordination of laboratory operations and scheduling.
  • Supervise staff and maintain laboratory equipment.
  • Receive forensic exhibits and maintain their proper records and security.
  • Ability to work under stressful and high workload situations and to complete tasks in specified time frames.
  • Carry out other tasks assigned.
  • Maintain effective lines of communication with and between unit staff, Divisional/Formation Commander and section heads, Executive Command, government agencies and other organizations for the collective achievement of the unit, department’s objective.
  • Actively contribute to unit and corporate requirements.

Requirements

  • Possess an appropriate science degree or equivalent from a recognized institute or qualifications required and at least 2 to 3 years’ service in that grade and/or equivalent relevant skills and experience in this particular field in any other organization.
  • Meritorious performance, excellent demonstrated knowledge to undertake the tasking and/or relevant science postgraduate qualification.
  • Particular specialist experience will be required and the ability to manage and train staff. Manage resources and professional guidance.
  • Must possess advance knowledge and skills in the applications of Forensic Biology and Genetics, statistics.

Salary

FJD 355,066.28 – 589,915.38
