WOMEN’S LEADERSHIP AND GENDER EQUALITY CONSULTANT – International Foundation for Electoral System (IFES)

Organizational Description:

The International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) is an international, nonprofit organization that supports the building of democratic societies. IFES promotes democratic stability by providing technical assistance and applying field-based research to the electoral cycle in countries around the world to enhance citizen participation and strengthen civil societies, governance, and transparency. Founded in 1987 as a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization, IFES has developed and implemented comprehensive, collaborative democracy solutions in more than 145 countries.

The IFES Fiji and Pacific Islands office, based in Suva, is looking for a consultant who can support program implementation and coordination, training design and facilitation, stakeholder engagement, and/or research and analysis on women’s leadership and gender equality. The consultant will be expected to utilize technical expertise and local knowledge and networks to contribute to IFES’ activities in these areas. The consultant will work on a part-time basis according to program needs and the consultant’s availability over the course of the contract.

 

 

Responsibilities:

Provide technical advice in support of IFES’ programming on women’s leadership and gender equality in politics and elections as well as advise on how to better mainstream gender equality considerations across program initiatives in general.
Contribute to program strategies, documents, and materials, such as work plans, curricula, toolkits, agendas, facilitation notes, and presentations.
Facilitate trainings, workshops and other special events on women’s leadership and gender equality whose target audiences may include government officials, political party members, election officials, civil society representatives, community leaders, or university students.
Support partners and staff to design and deliver trainings, workshops, and other activities targeting established and aspiring women leaders, gender equality advocates, and/or male allies.
Establish, maintain, and develop productive working relationships with partners and stakeholders, including women’s rights groups and gender equality advocates.
Support the development and production of gender-sensitive civic and voter education messaging and materials.
Conduct and/or coordinate research and analysis on key themes and issues related to women’s leadership and gender equality based on program needs and priorities.
Other similar duties as requested by the Country Director

 

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred. Degrees in political science, international development, gender studies, or a related field required.
At least four years of professional experience in gender equality, human rights, international development, or a related field.
Good knowledge of issues related to democracy, elections, and/or gender equality in Fiji.
Prior experience in enhancing gender equality in democratic and civic spaces, political and electoral processes, and/or other relevant areas preferred.
Prior experience with project management, training, partnerships, and/or stakeholder engagement preferred.
Prior experience with international organizations, human rights groups, or feminist and women’s rights organizations preferred.
Fluency in written and spoken English language required.
Proficiency in Word, Power point, Outlook, and Excel.
