Natadola Bay Golf Course is seeking for a Mechanic to join our Golf Maintenance Team. As the Mechanic, you will assist the Head Mechanic to perform a variety of skilled work in the routine service and maintenance of battery-operated/gasoline and diesel-powered golf equipment, passenger and utility carts, automotive/mechanical and related equipment’s. Be able to work on automotive electrical systems, efficient in welding works and to perform related works as required. You will also assist in maintaining a clean service area and maintenance building, contributes to a preventative maintenance program, and warrants safety procedures a top priority.

Your day to day
- Communicate any needs or problems relating to maintenance or repair of equipment with the Head Mechanic.
- Inspects diagnoses, adjusts and repairs mechanical defects/failures in various pieces of golf course maintenance equipment on a regular basis.
- Works with Head Mechanic to prioritize equipment repair and maintenance work.
- Sets up and modifies new equipment as needed.
- Repairs and adjusts engines and cutting mechanisms on various heavy and light mowing equipment.
- Keeps maintenance equipment fueled, oiled and inspected; and performs related tasks as required.
- Sharpen mowers with grinders.
- Keep up with preventative maintenance schedule, i.e. oil, grease, air, gas, etc.
- Inspect equipment on course.
- Safety aware – follow our established safety procedures at all times – and wear protective equipment when needed.
- Be organised – keep on top of supplies and amenities and always try to minimise waste
- Reunite items with owners – and log any lost and found property
- Look smart – wear your uniform with pride.
- Assist the Maintenance Supervisor or Assistant Chief Engineer / Chief Engineer with the design of a preventative maintenance program.
- Use initiative and foresight to undertake tasks outlined within the preventative maintenance program Request and monitor fuels, lubricants and repair parts.
- Maintain clean and tidy workshop.
- Inform superior of the status of repairs and pending costs and indicate when it would be reasonable to consider replacement.
- Record daily service work, including maintaining individual replacement costs along with time/task labor hours cost.
- Perform other related duties, as assigned.

To be successful in this role, you will need
- Trade certificate in automotive/mechanical or equivalent for a reputable organization
- Preferably 1 year experience
- It’s a physical role and you’ll be on your feet most of the day, so physical, mental and emotional stamina is important to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.
- Strength – with occasional lifting of items up to 50 pounds / 23 kilograms and or push/pulling heavy objects
- You’ll might need to bend and kneel to complete some activities
- Literacy skills – reading, writing and basic maths skills
- Flexible attitude to shifts – you may need to work nights, weekends and/or holidays
