SOIL LABORATORY SENIOR TECHNICIAN – Lion One Metals Limited

Lion One Limited Fiji, a subsidiary of Lion One Metals is an emerging Canadian Gold producer headquartered in North Vancouver BC, with new operations established in late 2023 at its 100% owned Tuvatu Alkaline Gold mine project in Fiji. Lion One Ltd has its own Geochemical and Metallurgical Laboratory based in Waimalika Nadi.

 We are currently looking for a full-time Senior Technician to work at the tailings storage facilities and Soil Laboratory for the QAQC of Tailings Dam construction and Tailings Placement. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day field sampling, testing, and reporting aspects.  Position Description: Soil Laboratory Senior Technician 

 Key Responsibilities Includes:

• Develop and implement a TSF construction QAQC plan based on technical specifications and design engineer’s QAQC Manual.
• Liaison with the overseas Engineer of Record (EOR). Report QAQC monitoring and lab testing results to EOR and Lion One managers.
• Create templates to track test frequency etc. to meet QAQC plan requirements.
• Develop and implement standard procedures for soil sample collecting and testing.
• Set up laboratory equipment calibration schedule to make sure they can work properly.
• Collect samples and carry out testing at Lion One laboratory or send to third party laboratory for testing.
• Document QAQC testing results and test reports as per EOR requirements.
• Prepare reports on daily, weekly and/or monthly basis as per QAQC plan.
• Investigate TSF construction quality issues and provide corrective action plans.
• Ensure that the project is in compliance with health, safety, environmental and community regulations and corporate standards.
• Attend weekly meetings and record minutes of meeting.
• Other works assigned by the Construction Manager and/or Project Manager
• Ability to work flexible shifts and to adapt to changing work schedules when needed.

  Qualification Requirement:

• 10 years or above working experience in a soil laboratory with at least 5 years in senior technician position and leadership role.
• A degree in geotechnical or civil background is a must.
• Intermediate to advanced skills in MS Word and MS Excel.
